How Did I Get Here?

How Did I Get Here?
By Clay Lowe • Issue #18 • View online
My crazy mad week is done. I can finally catch my breath as they say.
Here’s the thing though, I’ve been so focused on delivering my work that I got out of synch with the rest of my life. When I arrived home last night and finally got a chanced to sit still, I had a Talking Heads moment.
And you may find yourself in another part of the world /And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile/And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife/And you may ask yourself, “Well… how did I get here?”
I also had no interest in doing anything other than sitting in my Lazy Boy and vegging out. Eventually, I couldn’t even do that, so I just curled up into a big ball on the floor and slept for a couple of hours.
I’m pleased to say, that hit the reset button for me, and I’m back!
And so yeah, today has mainly been about recovery - unpacking, doing the laundry, catching up with other people’s stories etc. I did manage to slip out to record tomorrow’s episode of the podcast, which, by the way, is on the Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi.
As I put the finishing touches on this note, I feel like I’m back together again and grateful that I didn’t suffer Humpty Dumpty’s fate.
